68 Harbor City – Harbor Gateway Branch Library

68 Harbor City

We visited the 68th Branch of Los Angeles Public Library (out of 72 Branches)! Harbor City – Harbor Gateway Branch Library is in the southern area of Los Angeles near Torrance and San Pedro, in the Harbor City and Harbor Gateway neighborhoods.

We arrived just in time for Storytime! Thank you to the Children’s Librarian!

Riley even got to make a 4th of July hat thanks to the STAR reader volunteer. (Check out other events happening here this summer!)

After doing stories and crafts, we played, read together in the little house in the children’s section and looked for books to take home.

Both G and I read to Riley and she was excited to cuddle with the stuffed animals. . .

We took a bag full of books home, like we always do.

We got:

My Dreams by Xavier Deneux;

Dream Big, Little One by Vashti Harrison;

Baby Happy Baby Sad – Bebé Feliz Bebé Triste by Leslie Patricelli;

How To Catch A Unicorn by Adam Wallace & Andy Elkerton;

Quest by Aaron Becker;

Voices Are Not For Yelling – La Voz No Es Para Gritar by Elizabeth Verdick and illustrated by Marieka Heinlen;

Are We There Yet? by Nina Laden and Adam McCauley;

Hector The Collector by Emily Beeny, illustrations by Stephanie Graegin;

Pirate’s Lullaby: Mutiny at Bedtime by Marcy Wessels, illustrated by Tim Bowers;

Gator, Gator, Gator! by Daniel Bernstrom, pictures by Frann Preston-Gannon;

Surf’s Up by Kwame Alexander and illustrated by Daniel Miyares;

Hello Hello by Brendan Wenzel.

Maybe I’ll be able to get pictures of Riley reading our book finds again, but she hasn’t wanted me to take pictures of her reading books in a long time.  I’ll have to sneak some for the last few blog posts. . . we only have four branches left to visit!

Books and libraries are truly the best things on the planet. Go visit your local public library and check out a book. Next time you’re in the the Harbor City – Harbor Gateway area of Los Angeles, see what’s happening at the Harbor City – Harbor Gateway Branch Library!  There’s a Summer Author Program/Your Author Series coming up on Tuesday, July 16, 2019: Your Author Series Starring Larissa Marantz – author of Charlie and the Octopus!

Don’t forget to sign up and participate in the Summer Reading Challenge 2019!

And if you haven’t seen the latest Library Foundation of Los Angeles newsletter, check out the picture of me and Riley in the Summer Lunch section (picture taken in the summer of 2017 with City Librarian John Szabo – during the first summer of our library journey)!
