We visited the 62nd branch of the 72 LAPL branches! Lake View Terrace Branch Library is located in the North East Valley area next to the Discovery Cube Los Angeles, Hansen Dam Aquatic Center and a great public kid’s playground.
We were in time for Storytime and stayed for a bit (it was great!), but Riley really wanted to go to the children’s section.
It’s a beautiful library, and the children’s librarian is really sweet.
Riley played for a while and then she listened to G read a story, and then I read to her a bit. . .
We ended up going home with:
Time to Pee! by Mo Willems (yep, potty training is in full force, no diaper at the library this week!);
People Don’t Bite People words by Lisa Wheeler, art by Molly Idle;
Hide & Peek Animals – A Wild Lift-The-Flap board book, written by Kaitlyn DiPerna, illustrated by Giusi Capizzi;
Black Girl Magic: A Poem By Mahogany L. Browne, Art by Jess X. Snow;
Escargot story by Dashka Slater, pictures by Sydney Hanson;
Planting Stories The Life of Librarian and Storyteller Pura Belpré words by Anika Aldamuy Denise, illustrations by Paola Escobar;
Duck, Duck, Dinosaur Snowy Surprise by Kallie George, illustrated by Oriol Vidal;
To Be A Kid by Maya Ajmera and John D. Ivanko;
Away written by Emil Sher and illustrated by Qin Leng;
I Am Small by Qin Leng;
Happy! Pharrell Williams;
We enjoyed all of our library loot, as always. And will return said loot to the next LAPL branch we visit (thanks for making it so easy to return materials to any branch, LAPL!). . .
Next time you are in Lake View Terrace, visit the local library! AND next time you are at any LAPL branch or Central Library, get a new library card (by paying a replacement card fee of only $3!) — Gajin Fujita’s Art Card a limited edition! I did! Of course I still keep Riley’s regular purple and orange card (and my old art card by Shepard Fairey too. . . just because). . .
Thank you, public libraries! And everyone who supports and frequents them.
I hope you’ll join us for the next ten branches we have left to visit!
