In the northeast San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles is Sun Valley – where we visited the 52nd branch (of 72 branches) of LAPL! It’s near the Bob Hope Airport otherwise known as BUR the Burbank Airport (Hollywood Burbank Airport). It is the Sun Valley Branch Library.

Riley really enjoyed the building bricks in the Children’s Section. . . she built roads and trails.

She even tried to use the abacus.

We looked for books and played with toys. She kept saying, “I don’t want to go yet, let’s make trails!”

We found a bunch of books to take home, as always.

The books that made it home with us were:

I Spy Under the Sea by Edward Gibbs;

The Big Woods Orchestra by Guido Van Genechten;

Valentine’s Day, story by Anne Rockwell and pictures by Lizzy Rockwell;

Jibber-Jabber by Randall Enos;

A Pura Belpre Honor Book – Green is a Chile Pepper: A Book of Colors by Roseanne Greenfield Thong, illustrated by John Parra;

Caldecott Honor Book – Martin’s Big Words: The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Doreen Rappaport, illustrated by Bryan Collier;

Color Dance by Ann Jonas;

The Octonauts & The Sea of Shade by Meomi;

If I Had A Gryphon by Vikki Vansickle and Cale Atkinson;

This Is Sadie by Sara O’Leary and Julie Morstad;

Chewy Louie by Howie Schneider;

Caldecott Honor Book – The Happy Day by Ruth Krauss, pictures by Marc Simont.

I continue to be inspired by our local libraries. We got stickers and book marks to color on our way out!

Next time you are in Sun Valley – visit the library! There are lots of things to do, learn and check out – like Building with Bricks and Bark: Read to the Dogs!

And with LAPL, you will never run out of activities in Los Angeles! With your library card, you can enjoy many of L.A’s top museums and attractions with Explore LA.
