The 34th Branch Library 34/72, the John Muir Branch Library is in South Los Angeles in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood. It is a beautiful old brick building named after John Muir.
There was a lovely children’s section, and many books out to choose from – thank you librarians! Riley happened to pull one out right from the start, that I’d been wanting to read!
We played and read and then took some books home.
We got Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall. This is one Riley wanted to read over and over. I’m so glad she randomly pulled this one out! And good thing we have more swim lessons starting again next week. . .
We got The New LiBEARian by Alison Donald and pictures by Alex Willmore.
Keep Climbing , Girls by Beah E. Richards, illustrated by R. Gregory Christie with an introduction by LisaGay Hamilton.
Say Hello! by Rachel Isadora.
La Princesa and the Pea by Susan Middleton Elya and illustrated by Juana Martinez-Neal. A Pura Belpré Award winner.
The books were great, as always.
Remember to visit your local public library branch, and when you’re near the John Muir Branch, check out events like Building Brick Play with Legos on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 4pm until 5pm! And — continue to join us on our journey through all of the LAPL branches. . . and see what other great books we discover.
